Going Down The road

The last couple days road crews have been re-surfacing our road that runs past our house... it is one of the main roads that leads to town... I have kept the windows on the front side of the house facing the road shut tight but notice I am still going to have to do allot of moving of things and cleaning... I will start that tomorrow as I hope the stones will settle and the dust calm down... They have signs posted at the road side saying " loose stone 35 miles per hour" Ha... I don't believe they see the 3 very well and are confusing it with a 8 as it sounds and seems the rate is 85.... The state patrol was very busy yesterday... Another note to share... I live on the north side of Defiance to enter in from coming from home... For months the State Rt 66 has been closed to place a by- past bridge... course we all knew this was going to happen and planned for it... Now they have the other road also shut down or down to one lane....In my mind I think "WHO PLANS THIS STUFF ANYWAY??????" I guess I am saying it is a real pain to travel into town..... Summer construction can be found in every state and create quite the events and sure can discourage a person from wanting to travel... Another reason for just plain enjoying our homes.. and the easy elegance we can feel there... Forget the hectic of travel and enjoy browsing a book or magazine that achieves beauty in the home... I so enjoy reading with delightful results... In a little time we can find we can create a home with lovely objects we may already have... and make a lovely style... For busy mothers or a lady retires like myself .... most of us find our self on somewhat of a budget... finding reading is something that is sure to please... and make our time relaxed and special... blogging and reading takes up 2 to 3 or sometimes more of a day for me... I find inspiration and find myself not worrying about what road is going to take me where... I will be receiving small doses of happiness that creates great impact in my contentment.....

Making A House A Romantic Home

I have entered so many homes I felt to be quite lovely an to be enjoyed to the point that may be thinking they will be having over-nite guests...{ Just kidding } but I certainly have felt at home....but I have also been in some you really want to exit rather quickly... Most of those I felt that way was" Oh my , you really need to clean out as your cupboards must be over-flowing." Having the feeling of sweet sentiments with romantic touches is far more appeal for me... Clever window dressings, romantic vignettes, soft lighting, and personal best china... of course with pink roses and other delicate pieces all melt my heart... and are simple offerings of making a house a home... When arranging try to remember the rule odd design with threes, fives, ect. in odd numbers.... Always a touch of elegance... whether it be a touch of lace or a sparkle of crystal or the glitter of vintage jewelry. This works for dining also... relaxed but romantic... Placing like items together makes more of a decorative statement than setting them all around the house.... I know some hands are more magical than others, making it another good reason to always be on the look-out for inspiration...
What says romance? One of the beautiful aspects of romantic style is it's ability to transform any space into gentle and inviting with some effort and a smaller budget.... I always think of crystal and roses as romance.... We all know that flowers have been used to express love for many, many years... so what better sentiment that in a home.... Pearls, candles, purity and seduction... all these forming romantic... Then there enters the silver of which I have always love the touches of... Silver reminds me of elegance as only the well to do use to possess this shinning metal... We all dream of a get-a-way but know you can't do the budget buster... This is a time to add the romance.... Creating with the thoughtful accessories I have mentioned in this post can be truly timeless ..... I feel satisfaction when someone enters and instantly feels welcome... Though you may not be able to afford the rare luxuries offered on get-a-ways... by adding to your home you have this on a full time basis.... Outdoor spaces can make a shinny retreat and make you feel like you are among the clouds... indoor and outdoor pillows fashioned with vintage textiles or lingerie just spells romance and shouts.." Be still my heart" A style all your own... Affection of the moment... We have all thought we would love a bed of roses one time or another... Well just have one... Create one... More vintage textiles oozing with roses will complete the moment and take you on a sentimental journey and create memories... There is no sense in spending time with anything that is not going to make you feel something extra... so embellish...embellish...embellish... everywhere you possibly can... creating that unique romantic personality.... It is so fitting to surround yourself with things that make you feel special.....

A Garden Tour

Yesterday I enjoyed a Garden Walk in my home town of Defiance, Ohio... Years ago it was Fort Defiance as there was a fort on the banks of the two adjoining rivers .... I toured and especially enjoyed this one before the extreme heat arrived.... The home is one of the oldest homes in Defiance and owned by a lovely person named Jean, whom I have known for many years... She is a collector of many items in the garden and many have came from garage sales and auctions... as she collects she keeps in mind the history of the house. A old wheelbarrow has been turned into a whimsical water feature and bird feeders are scattered throughout... Perennials, annuals and herbs are strategically placed, throughout the gardens there are various uses of old and unusual stone.. One newer garden area graces a bench and table made of stone specifically constructed for the site... A lovely Japanese maple garden and oh be sure not to disturb the squirrel whom seem to be enjoying the garden as much as you...
I have to tell you I gasped as I viewed the carriage house... I instantly fell in love and had dreams of a studio or a tea house.... I asked Jean what she used it for and she stores junk in it... My heart kinda sank as I saw the lovely, lovely, old structure with loving eyes and yearning for such a place.... I just am in love with its features and charm... Hope you enjoy the tour..... Enjoy.....

Ordinary Bliss Here....

As I write this post to publish tomorrow morning I would certainly say that I am enjoying the good life... I am floating in the pool on a hugh tube with a neck and back rest and places for iced beverages... I love this tube... You can take naps while floating if you wish... It seems to be quite a enchanted peaceful moment ... Lovely weather, gorgeous settings all our own... sitting atop water and dreaming of remnants of the past... Nothing like thoughts of timeworn to delight the senses.. I am thinking to fill my passion I need to find some time to create everyday... Some days when I find myself blogging extra time it is hard to make it all work... Right now my mind is set on just playing awhile... dreaming of cast offs, rosy or tea-stained in warm inviting tones and rooms filled with past infusion and a cozy feel.. I actually prefer as I have stated in past posts, old to new... as the construction is much, much better and the pieces come with their own memories.. Many do not desire old fixtures and always discarding, but for us that see past and have a eye for detail we are in heaven with plans to make the objects our own...

It is although it is a gift to have this passion. a eye for beauty of the past. Even ordinary cookies look like a feast when served on a love china plate or a cake stand of the past... It's the love and attention to detail that makes a house a home. All creating sweet sentiments. Romantic touches... window treatments with vintage hankies draping over a rod... simple little inspirations all rewarding the eye.. and bliss on a budget....

* the pics shared with you today are all from the back yard in the country... From the deck off the bedroom.... the little garden that has started to bring us summer feasts... There is a golf hole out to the peak of the backyard with a flag... It can be seen from the road as you drive by... Opps... someone else decided the pool looked inviting after a a morning on the golf course....
